Children’s Building Wall Murals. If you haven’t already, please come see our new “splash of color” on the 1st floor of the B-Building. If you’re interested in having a mural painted in honor or memory of someone, please contact Kristin for details.
BLOOD DRIVE. Our next BLOOD DRIVE is Sunday, Sept. 21. Sign-up for appointments will begin next week.

CHILDREN & PRESCHOOL MINISTRY
Parents Night Out. Moms and Dads, mark your calendars for a night of fun without the little ones! Date night? Sunday School party? Shopping? Whatever it may be. Our Adult 5 Sunday School class would like to host a night “just for you” on Friday, Sept. 19 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. here at the church. Children currently in the 6th grade and under are welcome. Our youth may come and help out with the younger kids. Please call the Childhood Office to sign up by Sunday, Sept. 14.
Upward Cheerleading. We are recruiting cheer coaches NOW!! Many of you have expressed interest in helping with our brand new Upward Cheerleading ministry, but we still need many more! Sunday, Sept. 21, immediately following the 10:30 a.m. worship service, please stay for a brief informational meeting to help with a little planning and so we can see who all is interested. If you’re interested but can’t make this meeting, contact Kristin in the Childhood Office.
Want to be a Storyteller? For this Fall, we’re looking for Storytellers in Children’s Ministry! A Storyteller is someone who will present the Bible story/lesson once a month during the large group time of Sunday School—the first twenty minutes—to a group of children; either Kindergarten-2nd graders, 3rd-4th graders or 5th-6th graders. As a Storyteller, you would have a once-a-month commitment for only about half of the Sunday School hour, so you could be in your own Sunday School class the rest of the month. Please join us either today or next week, Aug. 10, in the Worship Center immediately following morning worship to find out more!
Fall 2008 in KidzWorld. The Fall kicks off with Promotion Sunday on Aug. 24. You don’t want to miss Promotion Sunday this year! Kids and parents come and meet your new leaders, see different environments, experience a new model of Sunday School in 1st-4th grade and learn through brand new curriculum for all ages! Parents, be watching for an opportunity once a month to come alongside your child to hear, see and learn exactly the same as them.

SINGLES MINISTRY
Singles 2 Family and Faith Night with the Astros. Saturday, Aug. 16, join us for the Family Faith Night at Minute Maid Park. Steven Curtis Chapman will be performing, Lance Berkman will give his testimony, and we'll get to see the Astros go against the Diamondbacks! We’re getting $20 Mezzanine seats. If you’re interested in going, sign up in Sunday School. Today is the deadline to sign up.

STUDENT MINISTRY (Grades 7-12)
One Voice during Summer. All participants in the One Voice ministry should continue to check our youth newsletter and youth website for their Sunday night One Voice assignments. We’re continuing to lead the Sunday night services throughout the Summer, so please keep your commitments to your assigned Sundays.
Promotion Sunday is August 24. We promote to our new classes and welcome the new 7th graders into the youth ministry! New classes with new decor! New teachers! New lessons! New ministry opportunities for students! NEW! YUMMM! Hot Breakfast every Sunday!

ADULT MINISTRY
Crown Financial. This 10-week small group study will begin Tuesday, Sept. 16. Join us on Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Childcare will be provided. Cost is $25 per person or $35 per couple. Sign-up in the office, or contact Shayne and Becky Green at 292-0670.

MUSIC & WORSHIP MINISTRY
Fall Start-up. All FBCLJ music and worship ministry groups will resume the regular rehearsal schedule beginning Sept. 3, the first Sunday after Labor Day.
